SIR – I have just received a the Leeds City Council newspaper, About Leeds. It headlines a ‘super theatre’ in Leeds, to be opened by 2012.
I quote: “The 12,500 seat arena is expected to generate £25.5 million per year for the local economy and will bring 450 jobs to the city. It is expected to host some 110 world-class entertainment events per year. Yorkshire Forward have helped with the funding.”
As someone who was born, brought up, lived and worked in Bradford until recently, I desperately want Bradford to revive itself.
A fraction of the entrepreneurial spirit of Leeds might help!
Could not the Gaumont/Odeon building have been restored as a ‘super theatre’ with a car park at the back?
