SIR – I’d like to thank the businesses and people of South Bradford for their generosity during the fortnight of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal last month.
They helped the Low Moor and Wyke branch to reach a record total of £26,028.62. My branch cannot thank them all enough, from the largest donation to the smallest, it was a magnificent effort in this time of recession.
The money will be wisely spent, helping our ex-service personnel who need us, from those who fought in the Second World War, right up to the present Afghanistan conflict.
It would also be remiss of me not to thank all of our helpers who braved the wind and cold to stand at the supermarkets (Tesco’s, Halifax Road; Morrisons, Rooley Avenue and Asda, Dudley Hill), taking the donations the good people of South Bradford made.
If anyone thinks they might be able to help us next year, please feel free to contact me on (01274) 604140). Any time you can give us will be appreciated.
C A Robinson, Cedar Drive, Wyke
