SIR – Here we go again, Bingley in the news. No to Tesco, what planet are these protesters on?
Their argument is that it will ruin the trade in Bingley. What trade?
What have we got in Bingley? We have a post office, an expensive shoe shop, half a new shopping centre, second-hand clothes shops, two bookmakers, butchers, a sandwich shop, travel shop and two nice fancy goods shops. That’s about your lot.
I forgot Queens Court. Another joke. We have half a market place that is hardly used.
Tesco could be a new beginning for Bingley – plus there are 350 jobs on offer.
This would cut the wait at the post office on a Monday morning by half.
Forty years ago, the gang of four in Bingley, with protest after protest, objection after objection, stopped the bypass for 30 years.
Thanks to Mr Bingley, Chris Leslie, we got it.
These so-called protesters are a drop in the ocean.
The people that I know in Bingley want it. Brink it on, Tesco, it could be the making of Bingley.
Malcolm Chapman, Westleigh, Bingley
