SIR – While I feel sorry for the German stall holders that have returned home early, because of the so-called apathy of the Bradford public to buy their wares, I visited the market last week, and I must be honest, apart from one stall, everything that they were selling was food!
At this time of year, you want to be able to buy presents, not food.
I was expecting some stalls to be selling wooden toys and carvings etc, but there was nothing.
The prices were ridiculous too, but if there had been a bit more choice on the non-food front, I think they would have done much better, as the Continental markets have proved in the past.
