SIR – When I went to university a few years ago, I was known as being particularly proud of my roots and both defended and promoted Bradford in any number of debates on a variety of topics.
Last weekend, I finally managed to get one particular friend to visit my hometown after seven years or so of trying. I took her on a bit of a tour and was pleased by the positive view she had after a few hours here.
Full marks, then, and my sincere thanks to the thoughtful individual who smashed her car window while we were on a night out.
Nothing was stolen, which in a funny way only makes it all the more senseless and annoying. My friend travels widely and has friends nationwide, meaning in one stroke of a screwdriver someone has undone seven years of relentless pro-Bradford propaganda.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother.
