SIR – You report a judge criticising the cost of a psychiatric report for a defendant (T&A, December 23). The criticism may well have more force in relation to medical reports more generally, but I do think psychiatry is in a different class.
After all, a psychiatrist has to sit and listen to his patient for hours on end to figure out what’s wrong with him, whereas a bones man just needs to tap around a bit and take an X-Ray. John Wilson, Wilsons Solicitors, Station Road, Horsforth
