SIR – Having read tonight’s T&A (Friday, December 19), I find, yet again, another article concerning my local MP. He purports not to seek high office within the Conservative party, yet he is constantly in the press (both local and national) about many items – mostly irrelevant to his constituents. His actions seem to belie his words.
His latest attack was regarding discrimination in payments made to staff in the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Black/white, male/female, they all earn, apparently, between £28,920 and £33,366!
Has he forgotten that many in his constituency are facing redundancy? Any one of them would love to be made redundant on a minimum of £28,920! Many of them are on salaries of around £11,000 to £13,000 per annum.
What is he doing for these people?
It is all very well criticising the government of the day, but it was his party and his government who brought in the legislation which allowed the “mutuals” to convert into capitalist organisations.
Look at the Bradford & Bingley and the Halifax now, Mr Davies. Find these people jobs rather than procrastinating. After all, you want them to vote for you in the next election!
