SIR – On behalf of the Rotary Club of Shipley, can I take this opportunity to thank all those who assisted in supplying some 318 presents at the Christmas Tree Appeal held at the Asda store in Shipley.

The quantity and quality of the presents, which have been distributed to deserving families in the Shipley and Baildon area, was first class.

Thanks are also given to the staff and management of Asda for their support and to all the customers who also contributed cash, which was used in relation to children and families who may not experience the same Christmas that we expect.

This is about the 15th year we have undertaken this project and it never ceases to amaze me the generosity and willingness of local people.
