Sir – Here we go again, it looks as if Peter Mandelson and the Government are considering putting British taxpayers money into Jaguar/Land-Rover. It is not an English company, it was bought out by Tata, an Indian company, nine months ago. I believe they also own Corus steelworks too. If they have enough money to invest in the ailing Formula 1 Ferrari team, what is stopping them from putting their own money into Jaguar, the company that they own?
The hold that they have over the Government is that if the Government do not support Tata/Jaguar then thousands more British workers will be out of work, increasing the unemployment figures to more than two million. Or am I becoming very cynical in my old age?
