SIR – More than 10,000 jobs could be at risk in the Bradford district despite all the hype from Bradford Regeneration Committee saying they want to improve the future prospects of the city.

With the world in economic meltdown how many more businesses are going to shut up shop? How many more jobs are going to be put on the line?

The only people in full time employment, it would seem, are the politicians and those at Job Centre Plus. Is this not taking the Michael out of looking for a job?

Bradford has to be promoted to the best to get the best – clean and tidy streets and buildings smartened up. Many old buildings that have stood idle in the town centre are prone to vandalism, deteriorate and generally make the city untidy. If Bradford is not careful enough with not keeping up with the Joneses the city will lose out to Leeds. Bradford will become a ghost town. Does Bradford Council want that? I am sure in all fairness they do not.

If there is to be a better Bradford experience, then there should be better in-community experience with better local shops, jobs and entertainment. With not much money in the pot, people will stay local.
