SIR – We live in times where the news (T&A, December 17) seems to get worse day by day. Energy charges have again been increased, jobs are being lost, some people have lost their homes and Woolworths soon will be a thing of the past.
With all this in mind I set off, in the rain, to the annual Bradford West Rotary Club concert at the parish church in Clayton. This featured the talented Free Spirit and singer Janet Howard as well as Clayton C of E School choir, who are finalists in next year’s Songs Of Praise competition on the BBC –and when you hear them, you know why. Under musical director Paul Iredale and conductor Judy Coles, they go from strength to strength.
The church was packed and everyone enjoyed the musical talents of all who featured in the concert.
Clayton, and indeed Bradford, should be proud and delighted that we have such talent in this city. To the choir, I quote Bruce Forsyth and say, “You’re my favourites.”
Congratulations to the Rotary Club for giving us another memorable evening. I certainly left the church with many others “singing in the rain”.
