SIR – In these sad times, how uplifting it is to read of something positive being done for elderly people.
This is the more than £1 million spent on refurbishing run-down bedsits into sheltered housing at Northcliffe in Windhill, Shipley (T&A, December 15).
Each flat has been fully rewired and decorated, the residents themselves given a choice of colour schemes and each flat has a new kitchen and bathroom.
The residents were very pleased with this – and their new lounge and hair salon.
In a nice patch, a barbecue and sun lounge was created as a thank you to the residents for their support while the work was going on.
In 13 years I will be 70. If I’m still around then, I hope I end up somewhere as nice as Northcliffe View.
