SIR – Follow that! It is difficult to know how the T&A intends to replace the superb Mike Priestley, with his views so often very much in touch with many of its readers. However, I do hope that some effort will be made to let us have a similar voice. The paper needs it.

In my view there is no doubt that, on occasion, Mike has been more in tune with the people of Bradford than the paper itself. It is to the credit of the T&A that it has been willing to print those views.

Not only will we miss his personal opinions, but the paper will also be the poorer without his local walks, his vast knowledge of bygone Bradford and input into various other matters.

Thank you, Mike, for your excellent reporting over many years. You have been a credit to yourself and certainly to the T&A and you will be sorely missed. Very best wishes for a long and healthy retirement, and enjoy those pastures new, whatever they may be.
