SIR – At last common sense prevails and our city-centre architectural gem has finally been recognised!
Surely one has to question the motives and credibility of any master plan that seeks its destruction? Here is the grand chance, the final solution to develop the most impressive cross-cultural entertainment and leisure centre in the north of England.
Let’s have Bollywood, let’s have Betty’s Café, let’s have performing bands, let’s have nightclubs and entertainment. Adjacent to the wonderful Alhambra Theatre and the National Media Museum, the Odeon’s potential is blessed.
Described by English Heritage, the foremost body in the country on these matters, as “an evocative Landmark”, and making “a positive contribution to Bradford City centre’s distinctive character”, one has to seriously question the professional abilities of the people who actually want to knock it down!
