SIR – We would like ask readers to reach for the stars by supporting the Rising Starz campaign in aid of Whizz-Kidz.
The campaign aims to raise money to provide vital mobility equipment for young people this Christmas.
Over 70,000 disabled children in the UK could benefit from a customised wheelchair or other type of mobility equipment.
The right wheelchair at the right time means a disabled child can go out and play with friends, go to mainstream schools, take part in sport and fully participate in family life.
Unfortunately, the cost of providing this equipment means it is often out of reach for many families. Disabled children have virtually no chance of getting a powered wheelchair on the NHS.
The Rising Starz campaign runs in Yorkshire Building Society branches until December 31.
By calling in and donating just a pound for a sparkly star Christmas tree decoration or a mobile phone charm, readers will be helping raise money to ensure young disabled people can reach for their own stars this Christmas. We hope the Rising Starz campaign will be a great success and will be able to make a difference to children across the UK this Christmas.
