SIR – Yet again, Labour are at it with their pre-election promises – or should that be fairy stories?
Immigration Minister Phil Woolas has stated that migrants will have to wait ten years in order to claim benefits. Piffle!
Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell has stated that drug addicts will have to undergo treatment or have their benefits cut. Balderdash!
Justice Secretary Jack Straw has been ranting and raving over the Human Rights Act, naming it “a criminal’s charter”, but was it not he as then-Home Secretary who implemented the Act?
If successive governments kept to half of their promises the we would all live in a Utopian society.
