SIR – It is very rarely that I feel moved to express my gratitude in writing, for services rendered to me.
However, having recently been discharged from BRI following heart surgery to fit a pacemaker, I feel compelled to express my appreciation for the kind and compassionate way I was treated by all whom I came into contact with; from the Sister on Ward 22 and her wonderful team of dedicated nurses, to the professionalism and expertise of my consultant cardiologist and his marvellous theatre team who took the time to put me at my ease and explain to me in detail what my operation entailed.
I very much appreciated the humour, cheerfulness and down-to-earth care which everyone displayed.
At a time when it would appear fashionable to criticize the NHS, I would like to redress the balance by saying how fortunate we Bradfordians are to have such a superb hospital.
I would hasten to add that this view is not just a personal one but was echoed by all the patients whom I met during my brief stay.
