SIR - First I read where over 650 people leave England every month, and now they are going to remove the Britannia from the back of the fifty pence, pictured right.
The people are moving away because of Immigration, crime and taxes, what a shame. But now the alteration of the money, what is going to be on the back of this new coin? Your guess is as good as anyone's.
In the US, all of our coins on the reverse say "In God we trust". Someone who seems to want everything politically correct wanted that off. So they made new coins.
No one will take these one dollar coins, they ask for a dollar bill instead of the coin, so eventually the US Mint will take it out of circulation, like they once did with the Susan B Anthony dollar coin, it just was never liked.
This will be a protest against the system. I think that's what they should do in England. Refuse the coin altogether. Eventually it will disappear.
How dare Gordon Brown, who was never really elected into power, decide all of this? And what about your song Rule Britannia, is he going to do away with that one too?
