SIR - It almost restores one's faith in our politicians' integrity to learn that Keighley's Labour MP, Ann Cryer, has put her name to the motion demanding a referendum on the EU Constitution (Treaty).

Her argument is simple. Her party promised a referendum in its 2005 manifesto and it would bring shame on any Labour MP to dishonour that pledge.

Therefore Ann is sticking to her principles. However the party hierarchy may now seek to squirm and skulk away from it.

I may disagree with her on many issues, but Ann Cryer's integrity shines like a beacon in a world of silver-tongued deceit.

The wise electors of Keighley would be well advised to remember this quality next time a General Election comes round.
