SIR - The article regarding the loss of Lottery cash from local causes to fund the Olympic Games (T&A, January 17) brought a smile to my face.
I recollect the furore there was with the opposition, by some people, to the setting up of the Lottery.
Had John Major's Conservative government not been successful in steering the Lottery Bill through Parliament, against mainly Labour opposition, many good causes would have not been funded and you would not have needed to produce the article.
