SIR - Fourteen million members of the Scout Association in more than 100 nations will be celebrating its centenary next month.
Scouts are taught to do duty to their country and other people, and their motto Be prepared' has inspired many to succeed in all walks of life.
Over the years I can recall seeing scores of them during bob-a-job week clearing rubbish, washing cars and generally helping anyone with their daily chores.
If more of our youngsters, who say they have nothing to do, joined this wonderful organisation perhaps there would be less criminal activity on our streets.
Let us hope TV channels acknowledge this momentous occasion with some prime viewing time programmes about its founder Robert Baden-Powell who helped put the great in our country's name.
