SIR - I have read that the Government is considering random stop-and-check on drivers to test for alcohol intoxication.
I have no problem with this in principle. The question is, do they consider this is a right and proper course of action to take?
If it is considered a correct course of action, can we see this also applied to stop and randomly search the public for knives and guns, which I feel would be more appropriate, and if not, why not?
I also consider that, should they go along with this departure from reason before action' to random action', that they also make it a legal point, that racial discrimination charges will not be considered at any time for any reason.
This might be a first action to making our streets safer.
