SIR - Being a regular visitor to Keighley, I often wonder why, back in 1974, the decision was taken to merge the town with Bradford.
Keighley has a long and proud history, along with excellent facilities, and its first-class public transport provision.
The town, along with Steeton, Silsden, Kildwick, Cross Hills, and the Worth Valley could, one day, go it alone and become West Yorkshire's sixth unitary authority.
