SIR - Re "Keep data at home" (T&A, January 10), it is not any old private contractor that wants to collect and process census information from an estimated 28 million households in the United Kingdom.
It is Lockheed Martin, a company which earns a large proportion of its revenue from the USA department of defence, other US federal government agencies, and foreign military customers.
