SIR - Are we sure that L Scholes, of Chellow Grange, (T&A, December 15) actually lives in that part of Bradford?
He quite obviously has never heard of Manchester Road because, as I have said many times, I am the only driver who realizes that the speed limit on that road is 30mph.
Even police cars with no visible signs for urgent business exceed 30mph all the time.
Can I invite L Scholes to pay Wyke a visit, via Manchester Road, and experience the thrill of seeing cars of all shapes and sizes, especially X6 buses, travelling at speeds in excess of 30mph and, indeed, up to 60mph at times during the day and much faster at night?
Phil Boase, Elizabeth Street, Wyke
- SIR - With a name like mine you have to be used to puns, but I am not sure if L Scholes (T&A, December 15) intended one, with the advice not to put all my eggs in one basket, although, not seeing any relevance, must assume it did.
Cameras have not reduced accidents significantly despite a three-fold increase in the number caught on and the money raised by them.
What L Scholes might think is not fact based on statistics. As far as I know, but may be wrong, there is zero tolerance by the cameras, so there may have been a triple increase in drivers exceeding the speed limit by one mile per hour, no matter the speed limit where the offence had taken place.
Therefore, whatever my eggs have to do with anything, they will remain in the same basket.
Philip Bird, Nab Wood Terrace, Shipley
