SIR - I have tried to forget the article by Helen Mead (T&A, December 10) but cannot, as I felt so disappointed reading how much she dreads Sundays.

I know to many people it is now just another day of the week, but to many churchgoers it is still a special day.

If, for any reason, I have to miss going to church on a Sunday morning, I feel that there is something missing.

The Methodist church that I attend has, over many years, been very supportive to me - especially at my sad times.

People who think that Sunday should be scrapped don't realise what they've missed in their lives.

The children who attend run happily into their departments part way through the service and come back at the end smiling and usually clutching their activity pictures.

Hasn't Helen ever tried the children she has on a visit to her local church or even tried herself?

Our church family are one of many who I'm sure would make you feel welcome.

Try it, Helen, you may find Sunday's are better than you realise.
