IR - One reason why the Finns, and indeed Scandinavians generally, are more advanced is because it is their way of life to educate their children in a family environment from birth and show that education is fun and essential to a good life.
It works too. I lived in Norway for three years and saw it in action.
Also, the family concept is still strong in that part of the world - unlike here where most kids have no idea what it is like to sit down at the table for a family meal.
