SIR - I received in the post recently information from the non-political Democracy Movement, which mentions a point too often left unsaid.

The EU Constitution, sorry, Treaty, is self-amending and, therefore, the ten per cent of the failed Constitution can be added back, without the need for recourse to and ratification by individual European states, I mean regions.

There are said to be 54 Labour MPs who guaranteed their constituents a referendum on the constitution. Can these be named to see if they have the integrity and courage to vote for a referendum at Westminster, bearing in mind that they will have to face the threat of removal of the party Whip in a non-free vote?

I am confident Philip Davies would vote for one if it meant going against his leader's wishes.
