SIR - Plastic bags given by Tesco are now biodegradable, so would they not biodegrade rapidly in the briny?
In any case, the fact that some thoughtless people dispose of them negligently should not be a reason for seeking to ban this useful carrier of goods, for use by more responsible members of the public, such as Mr Holmans.
