SIR - Now that smoking is banned in public places, is it not time that those cheap and nasty gadgets that the vulgar are addicted to - mobile phones - were also banned in such circumstances?

Shops, pubs, supermarkets and public transport have all been taken over by the posers who use them.

It has become virtually impossible to enjoy a quiet bus or train journey because of mobile phones, yet the operators, when one complains, are reluctant in taking action on this nuisance.
