SIR - It seems like big brother's at it again (T&A, December 8).

So the council is going to target and prosecute smokers who drop cigarette ends outside the pub.

The poor smoker has been brutally beaten into submission and is on his knees.

The powers-that-be are encircling the hapless smoker, hell bent' on putting the boot in'.

It seems to me that all the CCTV cameras would be much better employed in catching criminals, violent thugs, anti-social yobs, etc.

I believe that the next piece of legislation could possibly take the form of targeting all the nasty miscreants who are picking their noses in public places.

If this trend continues, one will not dare to scratch one's bottom for fear of risking a court appearance.
