SIR - I write in order to express both my thanks and support for the work of the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Baildon ward.
One has to go back only two or three years to recall a time when the police dreaded attending neighbourhood forums in Baildon, such was the level of criticism which was heaped on their heads.
These days this has all been turned round and the constable and his trusty PCSOs are more likely to receive a round of applause.
People in Baildon appreciate the higher visibility of the police and especially the effectiveness of their "carrot and stick" approach to working with young people.
Youngsters are more productively engaged and low-level nuisance, although still with us, is much reduced.
Councillor John Cole (Lib-Dem, Baildon) Oakroyd Terrace, Baildon
