SIR - John Mawdesley (T&A, December 6) complains about Bradford only getting one bus service on Boxing Day. That is much better than last year.

However, in Oxford and Brighton, cities both smaller than Bradford, there will be good bus services on Boxing Day and New Year's Day provided commercially at no expense to the taxpayer.

I have suggested to Metro and Bradford Council that they copy the bus-friendly policies which allow the local commercial bus companies to build up to similar superb, high-quality, customer-friendly service to people in Bradford.

It seems the powers-that-be would prefer Bradford and its citizens to be choked by congestion and pollution.
