SIR - The barriers protecting the two tawdry Christmas trees in Centenary Square are emblazoned with banners proclaiming that Bradford Council wishes everyone a Happy Christmas.
Perfectly acceptable sentiments, you may say, for this festive time of year. So what is this grumpy old letter writer banging on about?
Look again. The banners actually announced that Bradford Council wish everyone a Happy Christmas.
Every year local employers complain about the poor literacy skills of the latest batch of school leavers.
Is it too much to ask that the largest employer in the district, Bradford Council, sets an example and gets its seasonal signage grammatically correct? I wish.
