SIR - What a dreadful reflection on our home city (T&A, July 21).

West Yorkshire Fire Authority's Community Safety Committee is about to be given an update on the 12 months to April this year. What this reports is that about half the attacks on firefighters in West Yorkshire took place in Bradford.

That is a disgraceful statistic which tells us that we have far too many unruly youths in our city and, one assumes, too many parents who presumably couldn't care less.

It would appear that much firmer action needs to be taken against these low lifes, who seem to think that they can (and too often do) get away with far too much. It really must be urgently addressed.
