SIR - Bradford East MP Imran Hussain has challenged the police over stop and search, alleging that it has a disproportionate use with BAME communities (T&A, July 15). He goes on to say that stop and search is an overused tactic.
I couldn't disagree more. In my view this is a vital tool for the police that should be used more rather than less. You only have to look at the amount of knife crime, drug dealing (see the T&A virtually every day), burglary, etc. to see that it should be expanded to try and control the current crime epidemic in these offences.
As long as there are reasonable grounds for using stop and search then I am more than happy for it to be increased further for the protection of us all.
