SIR - Labour peer Lord Hain has used his Parliamentary Privilege, available only to the unelected House of Lords which entitles them to comment on any subject spoken in the House without fear of prosecution, by naming Sir Philip Green involved in allegations which the law had put a temporary ban on him being named.
Lord Hain defends his action by saying it was his duty to do so. So why, if he so believes this, didn't he make his comments outside the House of Lords and take the consequences, instead of hiding behind Privilege?
Another reason for abolishing the Lords surely, or extend this Privilege to the general public, which of course would make lawyers redundant to some extent!
