SIR - I feel so sorry for the gentleman featured on the front page (T&A, July 30), his life is being made a misery by mindless, drunken yobs in the centre of Bradford.

Unfortunately, picking the centre of the city to set up home was probably not a very good idea in the first place.

I have lived in the Bradford district for most of my 46 years and, had this gentleman asked me my opinion of city centre living, I would have told him to take his £250,000 elsewhere.

As much as I want to see my home town regenerated, I know full well that it is never going to happen.

Perhaps other European countries can have elegant city centre apartments, but not in this country.

The yobs and the litter have put paid to any such notion.

Finally, if Inspector Steve Baker, of the city centre policing team, is so sure the crime figures are dropping, perhaps he should be invited to flat-share for a couple of months.
