SIR - Further to my letter (T&A, June 30), with regard to my explanation of the word sile' I would like through your letters page, to thank the people who have written to me in appreciation of my explanation which seems to have brought back fond memories of childhoods spent on farms.
In my previous letter, I said that I hoped my explanation would be of interest to readers of the T&A, but I was quite pleasantly surprised to receive letters personally.
