SIR - Further to Mrs Emmott's letter regarding macular degeneration, I too am in the same position and denied treatment by the NHS although this is available in Scotland free of charge. The prospect of going blind is horrible, particularly when treatment is available.
I feel so angry about this that I have written to my MP, Alan Johnson, the new Health Secretary, and to the Prime Minister. The last two will probably never see the letters but at least I have made my feeling known.
I would suggest Mrs Emmott does the same and any other readers who are in the same boat. They may take some notice if enough complaints are received.
After all, Alice Mahon made a fuss and finally got NHS treatment. Our sight is worth fighting for.
Mrs M Sutton, Wrose Road, Shipley
