SIR - What other so-called city has a council like Bradford's?

They spend tens of thousands of pounds on a hair-brained scheme to make it the City of Culture straight after the riots.

...Demolish a large part of the city centre and leave a pyramid of rubble in its place with no concrete plan for something to replace it. Now people shop in Leeds and Halifax.

...Spend thousands on vast salaries for councillors and pay top money for advisers.

...They spend thousands on the Mela most of Bradford do not even go to or want.

...And spend £1 million on plans to turn the city into a park.

Yet when one of the most important houses in Bradford, the Bronte house at Thornton, comes up for sale, they can't afford £180,000 to buy it for the people of Bradford and let it be sold to a property developer.

Shame on you.
