SIR - In his column (T&A, June 26) Dave Barnett implied he may wish to receive descriptions of rain, which he may have missed out.
Siling, is one. I was told a sile was old Yorkshire word for a nail, and Silsden used to be home to a big manufacture of them but I do doubt this and I cannot find the word in any of my dictionaries.
But if stair rods, why not nails? Then there's coming down in buckets'.
