SIR - Reference recent contributions to the Past Times page about the colour of Bradford police boxes.
When first introduced the police boxes were blue, but some time prior to 1954 (the year I joined Bradford City Police), they had been painted red.
The police box near the toilets at Lidget Green had by this time been removed and replaced with a bigger one on cast iron wheels on the triangle of land in Clayton Road opposite to St Wilfrid's Church.
This latter box had previously been sited in Forster Square and was later moved to the top of Spencer Road about 1958, to serve as a cycle shed alongside the converted cottage which then served as the sub division HQ.
