SIR - Regarding Rashad Akbar's letter about Leeds Road (T&A, June 13), the smell he and his customers have been smelling is one I smelt as a child in Leeds Road, and I am in my sixties.

It's a homely smell to anyone who lived there and I feel at home whenever I'm in that part of Bradford. It is a part of living in that area.

I find it strange that, as I frequent that area and live a stone's throw away, I have never come across anyone else complaining and some live nearer than Mr Akbar to the smell.

For his information, that smell is called Bradford and it varies from district to district.
