SIR - While researching my family tree I have come across an interesting character called Timothy Lyons.
He was born in Ireland circa 1838, but was living in Bradford in 1851. He joined the US Navy but returned to Bradford where he had a small business as a painter and decorator.
However, I am most interested to learn about his artistic talents which included a portrait in oils of the Rev Canon Simpson. I wonder if this picture is still around?
Timothy died in 1929. Perhaps someone out there will be able to assist me in my quest.
