SIR - Sometime last year the lamp post in Westcliffe Road car park was damaged and had to be removed, leaving an ugly steel tube sticking out of the ground which was a dangerous obstruction.
This car park is well used by shoppers, visitors to the medical centre and is also one of the main refuse recycling centres in the area, and without any illumination during the hours of darkness public safety and security is greatly diminished.
I complained to the authority concerned as early as October last year without success and I eventually brought this matter to the attention of Derek Taylor, the then Shipley Conservative councillor.
He was very concerned that this situation had been allowed to continue for so long, and that he would look into it.
Thanks to Mr Taylor, we now have our lamp post back, which shows that it pays to use your local councillor if you want results.
