SIR - I refer to your recent coverage of the cleaning of Bradford Interchange station for the Queen's visit on May 24.

I was amused to see that Network Rail was accusing Bradford Council of not giving it sufficient notice that the Royal train was due into the station. Surely someone within Network Rail knows which trains, particularly such special ones as the Royal train, are operating over its lines and into its stations.

Conversely Bradford Council said that the rubbish along the embankments and cutting was Network Rail's responsiblity.

I suppose that was based on the fact that the rubbish was within railway boundaries, but the fact is that Bradfordians have thrown these items over the walls onto the railway.

I doubt if she was looking out of the window anyway!

A classic example of two organisations not speaking to each other.
