SIR - I am obliged to three correspondents (T&A, May 24).

I support Mrs Marlow's darn fool plan' to refurbish the Odeon, put the Park at the Heart in Forster Square and ensure all the existing retail units in the city are filled before building more.

W E Oates awaits a good fairy to do something with the pyramids, and R Binns questions the validity of only 3,000 people supporting the park as fantastic'.

If not frightened enough, something far bigger is lurking. The Council guarantees to tenant a large part of Westfield's Broadway scheme as offices will burden the ratepayer for years to come.

In an already over-supplied market our leaders desperate efforts to save face and ensure that building starts will cost us all.

If Council guarantees are needed for Westfield to commence then the scheme cannot be viable. The people with personal ambition will have long gone before severity dawns.

I have yet to meet a businessman who never gets things wrong, disgrace is replaced by honour upon admission and success the outcome.

Am I alone in thinking that we should take stock before it's too late?
