SIR - Am I the only commuter to Bradford who passes by the ten arches beneath the overpass at Forster Square Station each morning and thinks - what an ideal site for market stalls?

To me their cobbled neo-Victorian splendour would lend a charming ambience to special events markets.

Their currently unused capacity would allow plenty of space for stalls for the most ambitious trader and their location is a perfect catch for alighting travellers from all over Yorkshire.

Their handy proximity to the Midland Hotel and various cafes over the road would allow shoppers easy access to refreshment facilities and amenities, with additional grocery outlets only on the other side of the station in the Forster Square precinct for those who want it.

In my home town of Wakefield we have a visiting French market selling all manner of French produce and a further craft market selling trinkets and chattels from as far afield as Africa and India besides various other mini carnivals. Wakefield is only around a third the size of Bradford. Surely you should have no problem competing.

Bradford may only be on the brink of development at present but as a great believer in making use of what you've already got, I believe the Forster Square arches must be Bradford's most underused structural resource.
