SIR - Adult education benefits thousands of students and provides the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a variety of areas.
It is a worthwhile and enjoyable experience for students of all ages and Adult Learners Week rightly aims to celebrate their achievements (T&A, May 23).
However, it seems neither the Government nor Bradford College share this commitment to life-long learning. Already many adult courses have been ended and 70 redundancies are planned.
The cuts in spending by the Government are mean-minded and make a mockery oftheir so-called commitment to learning for life.
These policies deny everyone's right to further their learning and I hope people will write to their MPs and demand a reversal of these cuts.
Last week Gordon Brown declared that education was his "passion", let's hope then that some of his passion can be directed to adult education when he leaves the Treasury and becomes Prime Minister.
